Hickory Overview

Hickory Ski Resort, located near the border of New York State land, is a unique and character-filled destination for seasoned skiers. This resort offers a rare opportunity to explore less-traveled areas and enjoy the serenity of the region, with the bonus of having easy access to hiking trails. The resort's lodge and Three Sisters Café at the base of the mountain offer a delightful retreat, adding to the charm of the place.

The ski resort is not your typical corporate ski mountain, but rather a place of real adventure and authenticity. It offers an unconventional skiing experience with pomas instead of chairlifts, meaning you'll be skiing both up and down the mountain. Its most challenging trails rival the best in the region, giving it a distinct character that seasoned skiers love.

In addition to its diverse terrain, the resort is known for its strong sense of community and dedication to service. Founded by a 10th mountain Vet, the resort is now operated by his daughter, who continues the tradition of excellence and warmth. It's one of the few places in New York that allows uphill travel, adding to its unique appeal.

Hickory Ski Resort is smaller than some, with 18 tight trails spanning five miles. However, it compensates for its size with the quality of the ski experience it offers. With over 200 acres of glades full of birches and maples, skiers can enjoy backcountry style skiing on uncrowded trails, offering a 1150' vertical drop. Visitors must be prepared for the challenges that come with this unique experience, such as unmarked tree stumps, rock outcroppings, and steep drops.

One of the highlights of the resort is the Three Sisters Café, located in the newly refurbished lodge and serving breakfast and lunch from Thursday to Sunday. The resort has garnered high praise for its great service and for the natural skiing experience it offers. With its remarkable views and rare authenticity, Hickory Ski Resort remains a cherished gem among its visitors.
